At the heart of the land -
our farming and flower practices
A regenerative organic rose farm rooted in the rhythms of nature, our farm is guided by practices that honor the land, nurture its beauty, and give back to it with all of our energy. We grow roses without chemicals, using organic fertilizers, companion crops and companion planting to build healthy soil and vibrant blooms.
Pollinators and butterflies thrive here, thanks to diverse plantings and a native landscape designed to support life. Nothing goes to waste. Fallen petals and pruned flowers get mulched in the field, old materials are transformed into rustic art or useful farm items. Worn out tools always find new purpose around the farm. Gas powered tools are used minimally, and most farming is done with hand tools. We do not till in order to maintain the native cover grasses that appear naturally and any trunk or stump too large for the chipper is used for something purposeful while resting on the earth so it can decompose over time and return the nutrients back to the earth.

Every material is repurposed with care, reflecting our commitment to sustainability and creativity. Water use is managed carefully, and we do not use plastics to cover the roses or soil anywhere at the Aptos Farm. The Birdsong Orchard location has weed paper over the raised rows of roses and other flowers in the lower field. We will remove the weed paper as it ages and not replace it.

This is more than a farm - it is a living ecosystem, where roses bloom in harmony with the earth and every choice we make helps the land thrive.
